Finding joy in the ordinary ...

Hunter on Journey Women podcast (read about my favourite podcast here), at the end of each podcast asks all her guests what their 3 simple joys in life are. Listening to what others defined as their simple joys inspired me to ponder what I consider mine to be and here they are ...

Oil burner
My Mum gave this to me as a present a few years back (each time I light the tea light candle I think of her), and there is not a weekend that goes by that I do not light this up on a Saturday night - once the oil starts to exude its scent, our family room smells like a day spa or retreat ... I can feel the tensions of the week literally drain away. The scent that I'm currently using is Natio Lemongrass ... such a clean, fresh smell.

Books
Being an avid reader my entire life, my motto is "you can never have enough books"! It is not unusual for me to be reading several books at once. Curling up on a lazy Sunday afternoon in colder months or basking on the beach in Summer, reading a good book is my absolute favourite past time.

Fairy lights
Simple, yet when I turn our fairy lights on in the evenings (and especially over the Christmas season) my heart sings!

Sundays
I treasure and so look forward to arriving home after Fellowship on a Sunday and just relaxing with my family and cats. God in His wisdom has graciously allowed and designed a  day of Sabbath for our bodies, minds and lives to rest and recharge  - what a blessing.

Perfume
My one indulgence in life is good quality perfume: 'White Linen' for the Summer months and 'Cinnabar' or 'Youth Dew' for the colder seasons. Wearing perfume make me feel ultra feminine and adds a touch of luxury to my everyday  life.

I so enjoyed musing about what my favourite simple joys are in life ...
