Choose your friends well ... that is who you will become

Do you feel like you truly have fluffed it sometimes - let yourself, others and God down? Do not despair .... 2 Chronicles 19 tells the story of King Jehoshaphat who foolishly aligns himself with King Ahab which earns him God's reproof, but also God's grace.

At my Son's graduation, the Headmaster of the school gave this sound advice to these young graduates: "Choose your friends well, because that is who you will become". This pearl of wisdom is so relevant to boys entering their teenage years.

Like Jehoshaphat, my son has aligned himself once or twice with the wrong crowd in his teens with consequences that could have been severe. However, by God's grace and being reminded of his Headmasters advice by myself and his Dad, he took the appropriate action and removed himself from these groups.

God's goodness to Jehoshaphat, who was almost destroyed by un-discerning folly,  is a testimony to His grace. This grace still is extended to each of us today, He will restore our souls, but we need to repent and turn to Him first.

Practical application:
  •  Like the bleeding woman, fall on your knees and grab hold of Jesus's cloak and beg for his wisdom and grace.
  • Reflect on your immediate circle of friends, are they godly women, do they encourage your walk with the Lord and do their words and action reflect Christ? If the answer is no, you need to make some tough decisions.
Be blessed.
